Strong Nor'easter to impact Ridgefield.

An approaching storm system from the Midwest will team up with a coastal system creating a significant rain and wind event over the next three days.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Ridgefield through Tuesday afternoon.

Rain – Storm totals will range from 3 inches to possibly as high as 5 inches if we find ourselves under consistent thunderstorms overnight tonight into Tuesday morning.

Winds – sustained around 10-20 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. With saturated ground and most trees still having all of their leaves, this could lead to downed trees/limbs creating power outages.

Duration – Starting early this evening and lasting into Wednesday morning

Future – Another storm system is forecasted to impact Ridgefield Friday into Saturday. This could bring another 1 to 2 inches of rain with gusty winds.

Instructions:

Please secure any loose outdoor items. Continue to monitor for further notices, and the local forecasts for any substantial changes. For emergencies only, contact the Ridgefield PD via 9-1-1 or (201) 943-5210.  Power outages are possible due to the forecast winds. Report any outages to PSE&G at 1-800-436-PSEG (7734), and do not approach any downed power lines, even if the power appears to be out in the neighborhood, as the lines may still be live. If utilizing a generator, please make sure that the generator is not inside any enclosed portion of the house, and away from any open windows, as carbon monoxide poisoning is possible. 128.
