The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Monmouth County in central New Jersey... Middlesex County in northern New Jersey... North Central Ocean County in southern New Jersey...

* Until 1100 AM EDT.

* At 653 AM EDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Somerset, Edison, Lakewood, Middletown, Old Bridge, Jackson, Howell, East Brunswick, South Brunswick, and Sayreville. This includes the following highways... New Jersey Turnpike between exits 9 and 13. Interstate 195 in New Jersey between mile markers 16 and 31. Interstate 287 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 4. Garden State Parkway between mile markers 108 and 132. Several water rescues have been reported in Union Beach NJ which is in northern Monmouth County.

* AFFECTED AREAS: MIDDLESEX, NJ ... MONMOUTH, NJ ... OCEAN, NJ

Instructions:

Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
