Deputies, Citizen Help Find Critical Missing La Crescenta Resident

This afternoon, Crescenta Valley Station received a call of a missing person from the 2800 block of Mary Street, La Crescenta.  Deputies responded to the location and learned that an elderly family member had gone missing from his home a few hours earlier.  The family was concerned the missing person was lost and did not know where he was.

Deputies began a search of the area.  They were assisted by a helicopter and had called for search dogs.  Thankfully, a concerned citizen saw the missing person near the 4400 block of Oak Grove Drive, La CaƱada Flintridge.  The informant called the station stating they saw an older man who looked confused at the location.

Deputies quickly went to the area and confirmed the identity of the missing person.  The family was taken to his location and reunited.

Thankfully, an observant resident, "saw something, said something" which led to a happy ending.  Crescenta Valley Station wants to remind you to see something, say something by calling our station at 818-248-3464.  If it is an emergency call 911.

If you have a loved one who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia, Autism, or other cognitive disorders, consider applying for Project Lifesaver.  Project Lifesaver is a 501(C)(3) community based, public safety, non-profit organization that provides law enforcement, fire/rescue, and caregivers with a program and products designed to quickly locate individuals with cognitive disorders who are prone to the life threatening behavior of wandering.

The Project Lifesaver transmitter operates by producing an intermitted radio frequency (RF) signal, which is unheard by the wearer.  Similar to LoJack® devices in stolen cars, the RF signal can penetrate through most walls, roofs, and building materials with a range of approximately one-half mile for ground units searching in suburban environments and even further in open areas where there are fewer obstructions.  This device can help our Departmental members locate your loved one if they were to go missing.
