The FCC has mandated 10-digit dialing for all phone calls to pave the way for a National Suicide Prevention Hotline. The new hotline will have the number 9-8-8 and is set to debut in July of 2022.

With the shift to the 10-digit dialing mandate, individuals and businesses with automated dialing systems (such as fire alarms and burglary alarms) may have to have their dialer system reprogrammed to comply with the requirement. Some carriers have already enforced this mandate, and some fire alarm systems are failing to send their required daily test signals. 

This message is to alert individuals and businesses to start using 10-digit dialing for local calls and to get your automated dialing systems, including fax machines, telephone speed dials, and fire and burglary alarms in compliance.
