Crime Alert Bulletin for the week of October 18-24, 2021

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 10-18-21 at 3:57 p.m., subsequent to a traffic stop by Officer Aguilar on the unit block of Gambetta Street, a 36-year old Daly City resident was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of metal knuckles, and for an outstanding warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

On Monday, 10-18-21 at 11:19 p.m., numerous officers were dispatched to the 900 block of St. Francis Boulevard on a report of a verbal altercation between neighbors over a dog defecating on the property. One subject allegedly threatened to shoot the other two parties. After an investigation, officers arrested a 41-year old Daly City resident for criminal threats.

On Tuesday, 10-19-21 at 9:02 p.m., Officer Covarrubias was dispatched to the Nordstrom Rack store on a report of a shoplifter in custody. The asset protection officer observed the subject who had concealed merchandise and bypassed registers without paying for the merchandise. Officer Covarrubias arrested the subject, a 44-year old San Francisco resident, for organized retail theft with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for three outstanding warrants for drug and theft related cases. The staff at the jail facility found the subject had concealed Fentanyl on her person, and that charge was added to the list of her offenses.

On Wednesday, 10-20-21 at approximately 1:01 a.m., Officer Grogan and Officer Lajoie were on a call for service at the intersection of Mission Street and Evergreen Avenue when they heard what appeared to be glass breaking on the 6100 block of Mission Street. The officers saw a subject near the laundromat—where the owner of the laundromat had reported seeing unhoused people in the last couple of weeks. After an investigation, the officers arrested the suspect, a 26-year old San Francisco resident, for attempted burglary and possession of unlawful paraphernalia.

On Wednesday, 10-20-21 at approximately 2:35 p.m., Sergeant Tone and Officer Reininger were dispatched to the 100 block of South Mayfair Avenue on the report of a domestic dispute. The victim, a 47-year old San Francisco resident, said her ex-boyfriend took her vehicle from her, and she was attempting to recover it. The victim provided Officer Reininger the description of her ex-boyfriend, and the officer contacted him on the unit block of Poncetta Drive. The subject struggled with the officer, and numerous other officers responded to the scene to assist. Officers subsequently arrested the suspect, a 20-year old Daly City resident, for carjacking, battery on a police officer, violating a restraining order, vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to disarm a police officer, resisting an executive officer, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a narcotic.

On Wednesday, 10-20-21 at approximately 8:34 p.m., Officer Reininger was dispatched to the Koi Palace Restaurant parking lot on a report of a robbery. A 55-year old San Bruno resident/victim said she walked to her car from the restaurant and sat in the driver’s seat of her car. The victim noticed a male to the right near the passenger side window, and she said he immediately shattered her window. The victim said the male reached into the window and grabbed her purse. The victim was still holding her purse when the male ripped it from her hands, causing a laceration. The victim immediately ran to the front of the restaurant for help. The victim described the male as a young black male with curly hair. This investigation is continuing.

On Friday, 10-22-21 at 4:35 a.m., a 21-year old Union City resident was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol following a solo collision near the intersection of Highway 35 and Hickey Boulevard.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
