LOCATION OCCURRED:  Residence in Village Grande Development

DETAILS:  Patrol Units were in the Village Grande Development to investigate a vehicle burglary where the victim reported seeing suspects in his car while it was parked inside his garage (Incident #2021-24059). While doing so, they discovered additional vehicle burglaries including this particular case where the following was determined; A suspect entered the vicitms Mercedes-Benz which was parked in the driveway and unlocked. After rummaging through the car, the suspect used the garage door opener to get into the garage. While inside, the suspect rummaged through the victims Honda and found the keys to the car. The suspect then attempted to steal the car and started backing out of the garage, but forgot he had left the passenger side door open. The door got caught on a ladder in the garage, the suspect stopped, got out and ran to an awaiting dark colored sedan which sped off.

DETAILS: Patrol Units were detailed to Wegmans for a shoplifter that was being detained by store Asset Protection. Investigation determined that Fang Huang concealed various food items into her purse and left the store without paying for any of those items. Huang was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date with West Windsor Municipal Court.

DETAILS: Sgt. Brodowski responded to Wegmans for a shoplifter being detained by store Asset Protection. Investigation found that Herbert Garron used the Wegmans SCAN app on his smartphone to scan lower priced items, and then selected more expensive items to put into his shopping bag. He also concealed other items into his bag which he did not pay for when he checked out at the register. He was detained after he passed all points of sale without paying for some items, and underpaying for others. Garron was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at Mercer County Superior Court.

DETAILS:  While on patrol, Sgt. F. LaTorre came upon a crash in the roadway on U.S. Route 1 at Washington Rd. Investigation found that a white Lexus sedan crashed into the rear of a black Toyota sedan that was stopped at a red light. Further investigation revealed that the driver of the Lexus, Bryan Smith, was DWI. A half-consumed bottle of vodka was found on the passenger side floorboard of his car. Smith was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending future dates with West Windsor Municipal Court.

Arrested:  Darrin R. Novak
                 Resident of Trenton, NJ 08618
 
DETAILS: Patrol Units were detailed to Wegmans for a shoplifting in progress. Prior to police arrival, the suspect, David Novak, had already left the store. Wegmans Asset Protection directed Ptl. C. Knox to Novak’s location, and Ptl. Knox arrested him. Investigation determined that Novak had concealed bottles of liquor, toiletries, and groceries into a large bag he brought with him, and left the store without paying for anything. Novak was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at Mercer County Superior Court.

DETAILS: Patrol Units responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash on Old Trenton Rd. Investigation found that a Ford Expedition was being driven on the wrong side of the road, going south in the northbound lane of Old Trenton Rd. The Ford was also swerving. The driver of a Hyundai SUV that was going north had to swerve out the way to avoid a head-on collision, but was then struck hard on the passenger side. After the crash, the Ford drove away but its front license plate remained in the debris left behind at the scene. There was also a trail of leaking automotive fluids that Sgt. D. Montgomery followed to the Mercer County Park where he located the driver, Edwin Mendoza-Lopez, and his now disabled Ford in a parking lot. Mendoza Lopez was determined to be DWI. He was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending future dates with West Windsor Municipal Court.

DETAILS:  Ptl. Buchanan responded to a vehicle that was stopped on Harrison St. and had not moved despite several green lights to “go”. Ptl. Buchanan arrived on scene and found the driver of a black Camaro, Sherry Doroba, asleep with her body slumped forward and head down. After Ptl. Buchanan woke her up, Doroba let her foot off the brake and her car started rolling toward Ptl. Hoffman who was directing traffic around her car. Thankfully, she stopped before hitting the officer. During the investigation, Doroba was determined to be DWI, and also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Doroba was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending future dates with West Windsor Municipal Court.

DETAILS:  Patrol Units were detailed to a crash on U.S. Route 1 and Fisher Pl. Investigation found that a silver Toyota minivan driven by Jorge Alvarez-Escobar struck the rear of a Honda Civic that was stopped at a red light. The impact was so hard that the Honda spun into the intersection. Alvarez-Escobar was determined to be DWI and processed at WWPD Headquarters. He was released pending future dates with West Windsor Municipal Court.

DETAILS:  Ptl. Fattibene responded to the U.S. Route 1 off-ramp for Alexander Rd. for a driver who was slumped over the steering wheel of a white Kia SUV. Ptl. Fattibene found the driver, Jyra Mincey, asleep and unresponsive. After waking her up, she continued to be lethargic and sleepy. Further investigation determined that Mincey was DWI. She was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending future dates with West Windsor Municipal Court.

DATE & TIME OCCURRED:  9/24/21 between 6:30 PM & 10:00 PM
 
LOCATION OCCURRED:  Residence in Le Parc Development
 
REPORTING OFFICER:  Ptl. J. Cherko #5113                    
 
DETAILS:  Patrol Units responded to a residence in the Le Parc development for a residential burglary. Investigation found that while the resident was away during the early part of the evening, perpetrator(s) forced open a locked window to gain entry. While inside they ransacked all four bedrooms, stole an 18k gold Gucci watch, a gold ring, and eight (8) designer handbags.
