INCIDENT: PC 664/187 – Attempted Murder
LOCATION: 13000 block of 4th Street, Yucaipa, California, 92399
SUSPECT(S): Jorge Mendoza, age 41 of Yucaipa, California
VICTIM(S): Female, age 44 of Yucaipa, California
SUMMARY: On Thursday, November 4, 2021, at about 8:00 AM, Jorge Mendoza dropped off a female victim at the Redlands Community Hospital. The victim had a life-threatening gunshot wound to the abdomen. Due to the severity of the injury, the female was transported to a trauma center by ambulance. Redlands Community Hospital called 9-1-1 after the victim was transported and reported the incident.
At about 8:21 AM, the Yucaipa Police Department received the information and immediately worked the case. Through investigation, the shooting location was discovered, along with a person of interest, Jorge Mendoza. Mendoza was seen leaving his residence and was taken into custody.
Search warrants were authored for Mendoza’s residence and vehicles. Several handguns, rifles, ammunition, drugs, paraphernalia, and DNA were collected during the search warrant.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Mendoza was charged with PC 664/187 -Attempted Murder, PC 207(a) -Kidnapping, and PC 12021(a)(1) -Felon in Possession of Firearms. Mendoza was arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center where he remains in custody on $1,000,000.00 bail.
