#LASD Special Victim Bureau advising of a Foster-Mother Arrested for the Abuse of a 4y/o Boy #Norwalk
Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Bureau (SVB) conducted an investigation regarding the physical abuse of a 4 year-old male on October 28, 2021 at approximately 4:00pm, on the 14700 block of Pioneer Boulevard in the City of Norwalk. The victim sustained grave injuries resulting in his admittance to a hospital intensive care unit, where his condition remains critical.
During the investigation, the victim’s Foster-Mother, Gabriela Casarez, was identified and arrested for child abuse on October 29, 2021.
On November 2, 2021, the case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office at the Norwalk Superior Court. The District Attorney filed one felony count of Assault on a Child Becoming Comatose/Paralysis, and two felony counts of Child Abuse Under Circumstances or Conditions Likely to Cause Great Bodily Injury or Death.
The suspect remains in custody and is being held in lieu of $1,200,000 bail. Her next court date is December 6, 2021, in Department J of the Norwalk Courthouse.
