Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Traffic Accident in Victorville Leaves 76-year-old Man Dead

VICTIM(S): Emilio Rodriguez, 76-years-old, male resident of Victorville
SUMMARY: On Monday, November 8, 2021 at 5:08 PM, deputies from the Victorville Police Station and rescue personnel from the Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response, responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision near the intersection of Rodeo Drive and Lariat Road in Victorville.
Deputies arrived on scene and learned the pedestrian, identified as Emilio Rodriguez, walked outside of a crosswalk, west across Rodeo Drive when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Rodeo Drive.
Rodriguez was transported via air ambulance to Loma Linda Hospital. Despite life saving measures, Rodriguez was pronounced deceased at 7:03 PM. Deputies with the Victorville Station Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
The driver involved in the collision remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. Rodeo Drive between Lariat Road and Batson Street remained closed for several hours while deputies conducted their investigation. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
