Prescribed Fire Announcement: MetroParks will be conducting a prescribed burn at Salamander Run Park on Layhigh Road on November 9 at approximately 1:30 p.m. The goal of this prescribed burn is to reduce fuel loading, and improve forest health. Before managers ignite a prescribed fire, specific conditions, called a prescription, must be met. Fire managers carefully monitor these conditions which include: a favorable weather forecast (temperature, wind, precipitation, relative humidity), fuel moisture, smoke dispersal conditions and available personnel. Throughout a prescribed fire, weather is monitored. If it falls outside of the required conditions, burning will be stopped until favorable weather returns. Morgan Township Fire Rescue will be assisting MetroParks with this burn. This burn has been approved by the appropriate State of Ohio agencies.
