West Covina Police Seeking Other Victims and Further Information
Date of Release: Friday, November 12, 2021
On November 11, 2021, at approximately 3:00 am the West Covina Police Department received a call in the 100 block of South Barranca Avenue regarding a male who had broken into the victim's apartment. The victim was awoken by the suspect, who was found to be naked in her bed. The victim was able to flee and contact the West Covina Police Department. Officers arrived, however, the suspect had fled. The suspect was unknown to the victim.
With the collection of evidence and investigative leads, the West Covina Detective Bureau was able to locate the suspect and execute an arrest on November 11, 2021 at approximately 3:00 pm. The suspect, Brayan Castellanos-Matute, 20 years old, resident of Artesia, was booked at the West Covina Police Department jail and charged with residential burglary and assault to commit rape. Castellanos-Matute is still currently held in jail with a bail amount of $1,000,000 awaiting his court trial.
