Suspect(s): Richard Crandall, 68-Year-old Petaluma resident
On November 13th, 2021, at 1:49 PM, Petaluma Police Officers responded to the Valero Gas Station located in the 500 block of East Washington St to investigate a report of Criminal Threats. The victim in this case reported that she became involved in a dispute over gas with an unknown adult male. During the incident, the male made several threats toward the victim stating he would find her and kill her causing her to fear for her life. The victim was able to obtain cell phone video of the male and his vehicle who was later identified by PPD Officers as Richard Crandall of Petaluma.
On the morning of 11/15/2021, officers located Crandall in front of his residence and took him into custody for violation of 422 PC, Criminal Threats. Crandall is currently on Felony Pretrial release for a prior crime of violence involving a firearm. Crandall has several terms associated with his Pretrial Release that he must abide by. Such terms include warrantless search and seizure of residence and that he is prohibited from possessing weapons and ammunition to name a few. A subsequent search of Crandall’s residence produced a Tomahawk style axe, a short- bladed sword, several rounds of various ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
In addition to the charge of Criminal Threats, Richard Crandall was charged with violating the terms of his pretrial release. He was later booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
