Hero Workout in Honor of Sean M. Walsh

Today is the tenth anniversary of the passing of Santa Clara Police Department Explorer and Afghanistan war veteran Sean M. Walsh. In honor of Sean, the Santa Clara Police Department has a Hero Workout planned.

Specialist Sean Walsh was a Military Police Soldier in the California National Guard, serving in Operation Enduring Freedom, when he was killed in action in the Khost Province of Afghanistan on November 16, 2011.

Sean was an avid skateboarder and loved surfing. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and biking, and played baseball, football and soccer. He was a Bay Area sports enthusiast. Above all, Sean was focused on becoming a police officer. He served as an Explorer Cadet with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department and the Santa Clara Police Department. He joined the Army National Guard as an MP to gain additional experience towards his goal. After returning from deployment, Sean’s plans were to continue his education. He had hoped one day to join SCPD as a K-9 handler.

Since his passing, Sean's mother Cheryl Walsh started the Sean M. Walsh K-9 Memorial Foundation. The Foundation has been one of the biggest supporters of K-9 programs throughout the country donating 28 dogs and assisting 8 Departments with equipment purchases. Our Department has received five K-9's from the Foundation.

In honor of Sean, join us in the following workout from a location of your choice:
21 Minute AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible)
11 Wall Balls/Air Squats
16 Mountain Climbers
11 Kettlebell Swings
