Advisory

Please join us Monday, Nov. 22, for a town hall meeting about coyotes

On Monday, Nov. 22, from 6pm to 8pm, the Costa Mesa Police Department will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting about coyotes at City Hall. Do you have concerns about coyotes in your neighborhood? Please mark your calendars and plan to join us.

This informative town hall meeting will include presentations from Dr. Niamh Quinn of the University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and California Department of Fish & Wildlife experts. They will share coyote safety tips, emerging coyote trends, the importance of reporting coyote sightings, and hazing techniques. Costa Mesa Police Department representatives will also be present to address community concerns.

In the City of Costa Mesa, a Coyote Management Plan was adopted in 2017 as guidance on coyote behaviors, how to “haze” a coyote, how to report sightings though the Coyote Cacher, and prevention tips like removing attractants.

Coyotes are a part of our urban ecosystem.  The goal of this town hall meeting is to foster a safe and healthy coexistence between public and wildlife. We hope to see you at the town hall meeting on Monday.
