On Monday, November 15, 2021, at approximately 7:30 PM, members of the Wildwood Police Department Detective and Uniform Patrol Divisions, conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 5000 Block of Park Boulevard, in the City of Wildwood, in connection to an active narcotics investigation.  At the time of the motor vehicle stop, the driver was identified as Luis Monroig-Gonzalez, a 35-year-old employed restaurant employee, currently residing in the City of Wildwood, New Jersey.
    
During the course of the investigation, information was developed resulting in the search of Monroig-Gonzalez and the interior of his motor vehicle.  During the search, distribution quantities of heroin were seized.  In addition, cocaine and narcotics paraphernalia was recovered along with seventeen hundred dollars ($1,700.00) in United States currency.  The currency seized was identified as proceeds of the illicit street level sales / distribution and held for forfeiture proceedings.    
    
As a result of the investigation, Luis Monroig-Gonzalez was charged with the following criminal charges; possession of heroin (a Crime of the third degree), possession of heroin W/I to distribute (a crime of the third degree), possession of heroin W/I to distribute within 1000’ of school property (a crime of the third degree), possession of cocaine (a crime of the third-degree), possession of narcotics paraphernalia (a disorderly person’s offense).
    
Consequently, at the conclusion of the investigation, Luis Monroig-Gonzalez’s criminal charges were issued on criminal summons complaints and he was released pending a future court appearance.  This decision to release the defendants, was in accordance with the Attorney General Guidelines, promulgated in connection with the Criminal Justice Reform Policies and Directives.
