Advisory

Lancaster Station aware of circulating rumors regarding threats at Highland HS; extra deputies on campus.

Tragic events at schools nationwide in recent years have understandably increased anxiety and concern regarding safety at our schools. We would like our residents to know that Lancaster Sheriff’s Station, along with our Department, diligently works hand in hand with the staff and administration at all of our Antelope Valley Union High School District schools to create the safest schools possible.

It has come to our attention that numerous threats have been made involving Highland High School in the last few days. Every threat, whether it be verbal or via social media is taken seriously by our deputies and investigated immediately and thoroughly. “Rumors” cannot be invalidated as we take the safety of our students with the utmost seriousness.

At this time, the threats have been investigated. Out of an abundance of caution, extra deputies will be on campus throughout the day.

Our schools’ and community’s safety is everyone’s responsibility. Remember, if you see something, say something! Let’s help our kids get the most out of their educational experience by working together to create the safest schools possible. If you have any questions, call our station at (661) 948-8466 or contact your local school resource deputy.
