Suspect Arrested for Grand Theft Auto After a Witness Reports a Tractor's Engine Running at a Construction Site at Night

DATE/TIME: Monday, November 15, 2021, at 11:50pm

INCIDENT: GRAND THEFT AUTO

LOCATION: Verbena Road / Palmdale Road, Victorville

SUSPECT: Justin Riley, 25-years-old, of Adelanto

SUMMARY:

On Monday, November 15, 2021, at 11:50pm, deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a 911 call from a motorist driving near Verbena Road and Palmdale Road.  According to the caller, a tractor started up in the construction area and considered it unusual for construction to be going on so late at night.

Deputies arrived and located Justin Riley laying inside the tractor.  The hood of the tractor was up, the motor was warm, and Riley was found in possession of a wrench and other tools.  Justin Riley was arrested without incident and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for grand theft auto.  He is currently being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact J. Guzman at the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station at 760-552-6800. Callers can remain anonymous and contact We-Tip at 800-78CRIME or www.wetip.com.
