Suspect Arrested for Grand Theft Auto After a Witness Reports a Tractor's Engine Running at a Construction Site at Night

INCIDENT: GRAND THEFT AUTO
LOCATION: Verbena Road / Palmdale Road, Victorville
SUSPECT: Justin Riley, 25-years-old, of Adelanto
SUMMARY:
On Monday, November 15, 2021, at 11:50pm, deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a 911 call from a motorist driving near Verbena Road and Palmdale Road. According to the caller, a tractor started up in the construction area and considered it unusual for construction to be going on so late at night.
Deputies arrived and located Justin Riley laying inside the tractor. The hood of the tractor was up, the motor was warm, and Riley was found in possession of a wrench and other tools. Justin Riley was arrested without incident and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for grand theft auto. He is currently being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
