Crime Alert Bulletin covering the week of November 8-14, 2021

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Tuesday, 11-09-21 at approximately 5:06 a.m., Officer Todaro and Officer Jackson were dispatched to the 300 block of Knowles Avenue on a report of a homeless subject living inside of a vehicle for approximately four days. The officers contacted a 34-year old transient subject inside the vehicle. The ignition of the vehicle was tampered, and a screwdriver had been forced into the ignition. After a brief investigation, the officers arrested the subject for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.

On Saturday, 11-13-21 at approximately 12:08 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Koi Palace parking lot on a report of a vehicle burglary that occurred ten minutes prior. The victim reported that his rental car was broken into, and the loss was bags that contained four computers and phones. The suspects who broke into the vehicle were seen on video surveillance in a gray 2020 Honda Civic. The following day, at approximately 12:30 p.m., an 86-year old Daly City resident was seated in the front passenger seat of a Honda Fit when she was getting ready to put her seatbelt on to leave the parking lot on the 300 block of Gellert Boulevard. The victim said as she was doing this, a subject broke the passenger side window with his left elbow and grabbed her purse containing identification, credit cards, cash, and a phone from her lap. The victim said the suspect ran away from the vehicle. Later that day, three suspects attempted to use the victim’s credit card at the Saks Fifth Avenue in San Francisco. The suspects were in the same vehicle that was in the burglary at the Koi Palace parking lot the day before, and officers were able to relay this information to Officer Premenko who was on patrol in the same area at the time. Officer Premenko observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle and contacted the occupants of the vehicle. Officer Premenko determined that three occupants of the vehicle were the ones who committed the first burglary and the additional burglary. Two suspects, 20 and 21-year old female Oakland residents, were booked into the jail for burglary and conspiracy. The third suspect, a 16-year old San Francisco resident, was booked into the Youth Services Center for burglary and conspiracy.

On Saturday, 11-13-21 at 9:03 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Gino’s Club on Mission Street on a report of a male subject with a machete. The owner of the bar said the subject had grabbed something out of his backpack and began hitting it against a table. Officers placed the subject, a 43-year old San Francisco resident, under arrest for public intoxication. The subject’s backpack, containing an axe and a slingshot, was booked at the police department for safekeeping.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
