INCIDENT: Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Dale Evans Parkway & Quantico Road, Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at approximately 07:43 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department, rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department, and American Medical Response responded to a vehicle versus a pedestrian traffic collision. The collision occurred on Dale Evans Parkway near the intersection of Quantico Road in the town of Apple Valley. Upon arrival, deputies determined a white Chevrolet truck was traveling north on Dale Evans Parkway approaching Quantico Road and struck a 25-year-old male pedestrian walking in the northbound lane of Dale Evans Parkway. Witnesses stated a white sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry, was northbound on Dale Evans Parkway and struck the pedestrian a second time.
The pedestrian, whose identity is being witheld pending notification of next of kin, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation. Investigators are currently seeking a non-criminal statement and information from the driver of the Toyota Camry.
An investigator from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) responded to conduct the investigation. Dale Evans Parkway was closed between the intersections of Quantico Road and Otoe Road for approximately six hours while deputies processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
