El Cerrito Police Department Blotter November 12th to November 15th, 2021

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

November 12 

Vandalism – 3100 block of Carlson Blvd.

At 11:22 am, an officer reported an unknown suspect sprayed painted on the victim’s rented vehicle. The time of occurrence was sometime overnight.

Auto Burglary – 11800 block of San Pablo Ave.

At 2:55 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect smashed a window of the victim’s vehicle and removed luggage. The suspect then fled in an awaiting vehicle.

Vandalism – 1800 block of Elm St.

At 5:02 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect keyed the victim’s vehicle.

November 13

Auto burglary and Grand Theft – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave.

At 2:43 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect shattered a window to the victim’s vehicle and then removed property from the interior. A suspect also removed the catalytic converter from the victim’s other vehicle.

Robbery – 11600 block of San Pablo Ave.

At 3:37 pm, an officer reported the arrest of an adult female. The female approached the victim and punched her. After punching the victim the female demanded the victim’s coins. Afraid she would be hit again; the victim gave the female her coin purse. The female was located nearby and taken into custody. The female was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Petty Theft – 24 Hour Fitness, 10636 San Pablo Ave.

At 6:23 pm an officer was sent to the report that a victim had a wallet that was stolen from an unlocked locker in the locker room sometime in the last four hours.
 
November 14

No reported incidents.

November 15

Grand Theft – 1500 Kearney St.
At 9:01 am, an officer reported an unknown suspect removed property. The theft occurred sometime over the weekend.
 
Vehicle Tampering, Possession of Burglary Tools, Probation Violation-Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.

At 2:26 pm, an officer reported the arrest of an adult male who was seen attempting to steal a vehicle. The male was identified and found to be on probation. The male was taken into custody, booked, and then released on a citation.

Organized Retail Theft – 11500 block of San Pablo Ave.

At 4:32 pm, an officer reported three unknown suspects entered a business, filled two large bags with property, and then fled.

Shoplifting – Walgreen’s, 11565 San Pablo Ave.

At 6:59 pm, an officer was sent to the report that a suspect had entered the store, selected merchandise, and fled the store without paying for the items.

Vandalism – Marshall’s, 10759 San Pablo Ave.

At 8:12 pm, an officer was sent to the report that someone had thrown an object through the front window of the business causing the window to shatter.   

Shoplifting – CVS, 670 El Cerrito Plaza

At 10:17 pm, an officer was sent to the report that a suspect had entered the store, selected merchandise, and fled the store without paying for the items. The officer located the suspect a few blocks away.  The subject was placed under citizen’s arrest by store employees and the stolen merchandise was returned to the store.  The subject was found to have five warrants for his arrest issued by the San Francisco Police Department.  The subject was booked at the ECPD and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.  
 
Commercial Burglary – AT&T, 4010 El Cerrito Plaza

At 11:50 pm, officers were dispatched to the alarm sounding at the business.  When officers arrived, they found the front door forced opened and found electronics had been stolen from inside.
