ROHNERT PARK – On 11/19/2021, at 9:38 PM, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety received a 911 call regarding a traffic collision involving a single vehicle into a stoplight pole at the intersection of Commerce Blvd. and Hunter Drive.
Officers arrived and found the vehicle that crashed into into the signal pole. The driver, Carolina Fonseca–Elizalde was still inside the vehicle. Officers and emergency medical personnel confirmed the driver was not injured. As officers were speaking with Fonseca-Elizalde they could smell the odor of alcohol and believed she was intoxicated. The officers tried to do a DUI investigation however Fonseca–Elizalde was unable to finish the field sobriety tests due to her level of impairment.
Fonseca–Elizalde had preliminary alcohol results nearly three times the legal limit of .08%. She was arrested and transported to the Sonoma County Jail where she was booked for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety would like to remind everyone to drive safe and drink responsibly during the holiday season.
