Early this morning, at approximately 0219 hours, Officers with the Lighthouse Point Police Department located a suspect in the commission of an auto burglary in the 2800 block of NE 44th Street. The suspect fled on foot, and violently resisted arrest, before being apprehended in the 4400 block of NE 28 Ave. There was significant police presence in the area. The suspect is a 21 year old subject from Deerfield Beach with an active criminal history. When the suspect was apprehended, he was in possession of a key fob and credit cards that were taken from inside a home in the area. The victim homeowner, mistakenly left his garage door open, providing easy access to the criminal offender. This is a reminder to lock your vehicles doors, don’t leave valuables inside your car, and be sure to close your garage door at night.
