INCIDENT: Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Navajo Road and Ojai Road, Apple Valley, CA
DECEDENT: Adan Villanueva, 41-year-old Resident of of Victorville
SUMMARY: On Saturday, November 20, 2021, at approximately 08:29 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Station, rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department, and American Medical Response responded to a vehicle versus a pedestrian traffic collision. The collision occurred on Navajo Road at the intersection with Ojai Road, in the town of Apple Valley.
Upon arrival, deputies determined a white GMC Terrain was traveling south on Navajo Road approaching Ojai Road. The GMC Terrain struck a pedestrian walking westbound across Navajo Road in the number one southbound lane.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the GMC Terrain was uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation.
An investigator from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) arrived and is conducting the investigation. Navajo Road was closed between the intersections of Clallam Road and Nisqually Road for approximately four hours while deputies processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses. At this time alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
