Investigators Arrest Edwin Vega for Willful Child Cruelty to an 8-week-old Infant

SUSPECT(S): Edwin Roman Vega, 24-year-old male, resident of Twentynine Palms
VICTIM(S): Eight-week-old male
SUMMARY: On Saturday, November 20, 2021, investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division, Crimes Against Children Detail, conducted an investigation regarding an injured eight-week-old male victim. The victim was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC), where he was diagnosed with several fractured ribs, fractured leg, ankle, and knee bones, arm and elbow fractures, a skull fracture and a clavicle fracture. The victim’s injuries were found to be consistent with child abuse.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Edwin Roman Vega was arrested. Vega was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center for willful child cruelty to inflict serious bodily injury.
