Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Makes Arrest for Furnishing Alcohol to Minors
On November 22, 2021, The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety along with the State of California Alcoholic Beverage Control, conducted an alcohol enforcement operation specifically looking for individuals consuming alcoholic beverages in public as well as individuals furnishing alcohol to minors. Rohnert Park Public Safety Officers along with an Alcohol Beverage Control Agent specifically trained in alcohol related laws, conducted the joint operation as part of a grant. As a result, officers issued citations to two individuals for open containers in public, two individuals for outstanding arrests warrants, and one subject who purchased alcohol for minors.
The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to battle alcohol-related crime. This grant was written as a joint program with the City of Cotati and Sonoma State University. Under this multi-agency grant, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety will act as the administrator and will work closely with the other two agencies.
The grant is one of several awarded in California to local law enforcement agencies through ABC’s Alcohol Policing Partnership Program. The grant funding is specifically targeted to:
The grants strengthen local law enforcement by combining the efforts of local police officers and ABC agents. ABC agents have expertise in alcohol related laws and can help communities reduce alcohol-related problems.
The Alcohol Policing Partnership Program was created in 1995 to strengthen relationships between ABC and local law enforcement agencies. The program is designed to put bad operators out of business, keep alcohol away from minors and bring penalties such as fines, suspensions or revocations against businesses that violate the law.
As we approach the holiday season, it is an important reminder to be vigilant and keep alcohol out of the hands of minors so we can all have safe and enjoyable holidays.

- Mitigate alcohol-related nuisances and crimes
- Target problem premises with special emphasis on alcohol-related nuisance abatement
- To reduce youth access to alcohol from licensed premises in the cities of Rohnert Park, Cotati as well as on the Sonoma State University Campus.
