Larkspur, CA – November 24, 2021.
A group of approximately forty (40) suspects smashed the front window and burglarized The RealReal located in the Marin Country Mart Shopping Center in Larkspur on Sunday night. Approximately $250,000 worth of merchandise was stolen, and the suspects fled before Central Marin Police officers arrived on scene.
On Sunday, November 21, 2021, at about 9:13 p.m., Central Marin Police officers were dispatched to a window-smash burglary in-progress at The RealReal. The reporting party, a private security guard employed by the business, observed the suspects arrive and called 9-1-1. Officers responded immediately, arrived on scene in approximately two and a half minutes, checked the area, and determined the suspects had already fled. The business suffered approximately $250,000 in damages and loss of merchandise.
Later that night, Central Marin Police was notified by the Palo Alto Police that an attempted window smash burglary just occurred at The RealReal store in the City of Palo Alto. Two suspects were arrested in their case. Palo Alto Police also recovered property believed to be from the Larkspur burglary earlier that night. Palo Alto Police booked the two suspects in the Santa Clara County Main Jail while Detectives from the Central Marin Police continued investigating our crime to link the suspects to the burglary in Larkspur.
Prior to Central Marin Police obtaining the necessary evidence to apprehend the two suspects, the suspects were released from the Santa Clara County Jail. In response, the Central Marin Police, with assistance from the Marin County District Attorney’s Office, obtained arrest warrants for the two suspects. As of the time of this press release the suspects are outstanding. The Central Marin Police are actively attempting to apprehend the suspects and will not release their names until they are taken into custody.
The Central Marin Police and Palo Alto Police Departments are working in close collaboration on these two cases as the investigation continues.
With similar crimes occurring throughout the Bay Area in recent days, the Central Marin Police have stepped up patrols in retail areas throughout our jurisdiction during the day and night.
