Text to 9-1-1 Service Launches in Harper Woods and Grosse Pointes
- Call when you can; Text when you can’t. -
Harper Woods Public Safety Dispatch and Peninsula Fiber Network, LLC (PFN) announce that Harper Woods residents will have access to emergency text messages from wireless devices to 9-1-1. Beginning Tuesday November 30, 2021, individuals anywhere in the Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods will be able to send a text message to 9-1-1 in an emergency.
Texting to 9-1-1 is a critical service that will benefit anyone who is not able to speak due to an emergency such as a home invasion or an abusive partner. It is also intended to help individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability. It can also be a benefit in areas where wireless service is limited.
“Please remember to Call when you can; Text when you can’t.”
