Officer Terry Troutt is assigned to the Patrol Division, employed with the Jackson Police Department for 8 years.
Officer Troutt has one of the best attitudes in the Department. He has a tremendous work ethic and an incredible knowledge of patrol operations. Officer Troutt is always eager to use his knowledge and experience to help others. Recently Officer Trout has been using commonly available technology in creative ways that would aid in the apprehension of wanted individuals. This type of creativity, innovation, and initiative are what make Officer Troutt a highly successful Patrol Officer.
Additionally, Officer Troutt has a very in-depth knowledge of his patrol district that comes from him immersing himself in that area. This in-depth understanding of his area is what recently led Officer Troutt to the apprehension of three murder suspects as they attempted to flee the area undetected. On the morning of November 2, 2021, while responding to a murder call on Holly Street, Officer Trout began anticipating the suspects' likely course of regress and positioned himself in a covert position in that area. Within minutes he identified the suspect vehicle pass his position. A subsequent high-risk traffic stop led to the apprehension of all three persons involved.
Officer Troutt takes great pride in his profession and is an asset to the Jackson Police Department. Officer Troutt currently holds the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Tennessee Army National Guard. He is also an avid outdoorsman whom enjoys spending his leisure time hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking.
As "Employee of the Month", he receives a plaque acknowledging his selection, a $30 gift certificate to a local restaurant, a designated parking space for the month as well as a day off with pay, among other special benefits.
