Student Charged with Having Taser at School
Juvenile Charged with Possession of a Weapon at Middle School
South Brunswick Police have charged a juvenile with bringing a handheld Taser into school today. At 11:30 am the School Resource Officer along with patrol officers responded to Crossroads South Middle School at 195 Major Road after school administration located a Taser in the backpack of a student. School officials were alerted after the student posted an image of the Taser on social media. There were no threats made in connection to the Taser. The student is charged with one count of having a prohibited weapon on school grounds.
Chief Raymond Hayducka credited those who came forward to report the social media post. “These young people made a difference today by alerting officials when they saw a problem. I want to thank them for their courage in speaking up,” said Chief Hayducka. He added, “There is no place in our schools for any type of weapon, including Tasers.”
