DETAILS: On Sunday December 5, 2021 at Hours, Patrol & Traffic Units were detailed to US Route 1 North at The Square of West Windsor on a report of a Serious Motor Vehicle Crash involving a Pedestrian. Upon their arrival with WWDFES, Pedestrian #1 was determined to have no signs of life was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The WWPD's Traffic Unit, Detective Bureau, & Administration arrived on scene and the initial investigation revealed the following: Vehicle #1, a 2015 Nissan Altima with its sole occupant, Driver #1, was traveling on US Route 1 N/B in the right lane and was approaching the area of The Square at West Windsor. Pedestrian #1, was moving in a westerly path fromThe Square at West Windsor toward the US Route 1 South lanes of travel. Pedestrian #1 had traversed the deceleration lanes of US Route 1 N/B and entered into the right lane of US Route 1 N/B & into the direct path of Vehicle #1. Pedestrian #1 was struck by Vehicle #1, which continued into the shoulder portion of the roadway and it came to its final resting place. Pedestrian #1 remained mostly imbedded in Vehicle #1's windshield and front passenger area.
The collision yielded all US Route 1 North lanes closed from Quakerbridge Road to Meadow Road for approximately 3 1/4 Hours for the on scene investigation.
