During the month of December 2021, detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit conducted an investigation where (S) Brian Harren was believed to be involved in unlawful narcotics and firearm manufacturing activities.
On December 8, 2021, at about 10:15 AM, detectives executed a search warrant at Harren’s residence located in the 1300 block of Saratoga Avenue in Ventura. As a result of the search warrant, detectives located and seized an unregistered short-barreled assault rifle, an unregistered handgun, two self-manufactured handgun frames, a silencer, high capacity magazines, dozens of rounds of ammunition, and a useable amount of a controlled substance. Unregistered firearms such as these located and seized are commonly referred to as “Ghost Guns” because they are privately made firearms that lack serial numbers or markings.
Brian Harren is a convicted felon and therefore prohibited from owning firearms and ammunition. He was arrested for various firearm offenses, including Penal Code § 29800(a)(1) – [Felon in Possession of Firearm], 30305(a)(1) – [Felon in Possession of Ammunition], 27545 – [Unlawful Firearm Transfer], Penal Code § Penal Code § 30600 – [Manufacture of an Assault Weapon], Penal Code § 30605 – [Possession of an Assault Weapon], Penal Code § 33215 – [Possession of Short-Barreled Rifle], Penal Code § 33410 – [Possession of a Silencer], and Health & Safety Code § 11370.1(a) – [Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed with Firearm]. He was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility pending court proceedings. |
