Suspect charged with Assault with a deadly weapon and other crimes

On December 8th, officers arrested a 35-year-old man in connection to several recent crimes.
 
On November 29th, a woman was walking on the 2400 block of Durant Avenue when the suspect threw a hard object (possibly a rock or bottle) at the woman—injuring her head.
 
After reviewing surveillance footage of the attack, officers were able to identify the suspect as a 35-year-old man (no address)—who was also wanted in connection to an unrelated crime.
 
On December 5th, an officer spotted the same suspect driving a stolen vehicle in the area of Acton Street and Bancroft Way.  When the officer attempted to stop the suspect and his vehicle, the suspect failed to yield—driving away recklessly.
 
On the afternoon of December 8th, Bike Force officers spotted the suspect walking on the 2400 block of Bancroft Way and arrested him after a brief foot chase.
 
On December 9th, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged the suspect with PC 245(a)(1)—assault with a deadly weapon, VC 2800.2(a)—evading a police officer, VC 10851(a)—driving a stolen vehicle, and PC 496D(a)—receiving a stolen vehicle.
