On Saturday, December 11, 2021 at approximately 0145 hours, the Readington Township Police observed Gerry J. Adams (32) out of New York driving carelessly on Route 22 east. While the officer was speaking to Adams he smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath and observed an open container inside the vehicle. Adams failed the officers field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. Adams was issued a motor vehicle summons for DWI, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Open Container of Alcohol in Motor Vehicle and Failure to Maintain Lane. The filing of charges is merely one step in the process. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
