Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports his office is investigating a single vehicle crash on M-60 Hwy, west of Corey Lake Rd, Newberg Twp., Cass County, Michigan on 12/11/2021 @ 1445 Hrs.  

 

Emergency personnel responded to the crash scene and found that the vehicle was driven by Annamae Davis, 24 yrs of age, Kalamazoo, Michigan.  Davis had her 3 month old son in the vehicle with her at the time of the crash.

 

Initial investigation shows that Davis was heading west on M-60 Hwy, when she fell asleep and left the roadway.  Davis traveled down the shoulder and struck a culvert which caused the vehicle to go airborne and overturn upon landing.  Davis and her son were transported to Three Rivers Hospital to be treated for injuries.  Davis was wearing a seat belt and her son was in a child car seat.

 

Alcohol and Narcotics are not believed to have been a factor in the crash.

 

Deputies were assisted on scene by Newberg Fire/Ambulance service.  This crash remains under investigation at this time.
