On December 12, 2021, just after 6:00 p.m., the Cloquet Police Department was dispatched to the area near the 1400 block of Hwy 33 South for the sound of shots.
The reporter said they saw four or five people running, possibly into the wooded area near Pine Valley, after hearing what appeared to be shots from a firearm. (The caller could not specifically identify where the shots came from the sounds.)
Upon arrival, officers began checking the area for any victims, suspects, and a crime scene. Officers established a large perimeter with the help of our area law enforcement partners.
Officers followed what appeared to be fresh footprints in the Pine Valley area for nearly two hours without locating anyone.
Officers also attempted to locate any person involved in the area and inside the local businesses and restaurants in the area unsuccessfully.
One witness reported a white vehicle possibly picked up some of the people involved in the incident.
At this time, we do not have any suspects, nor were any victims brought to any hospitals in our area. Officers searched the area and could not establish precisely where the incident took place.
