Stanislaus County CRU Team Makes Narcotics, Firearm, & Child Endangerment Arrest

Turlock, CA -

Deputies with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Community Resource Unit (CRU) made a significant narcotics, firearm, and child endangerment arrest on Tuesday morning.

During the course of the service of a search warrant, which was part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, 36-year-old Turlock resident Jose Gutierrez was contacted at his home.  On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at about 10:15 in the morning, the CRU team converged upon a residence located in the 1900 block of Cody Court in Turlock.

Gutierrez was not at first fully cooperative with instructions which were given to him by on-scene law enforcement personnel.  After a brief standoff, which included the suspect refusing to come outside with his young daughter to surrender to arrest, deputies were eventually able to negotiate a peaceful surrender.  They were aided by members of the department’s drone team and hostage negotiation unit.

A search was then conducted pursuant to the original warrant.  It revealed a significant amount of contraband inside the home, such as a controlled substance believed to be cocaine, a large amount of cash, functional digital scales for packaging purposes, a stolen firearm, a stolen motorcycle previously reported to Modesto Police, and several bags containing pre-packaged, processed marijuana ready for distribution.  The narcotics and weapon were also left in an area of the home which were once accessible to the man’s eight year-old daughter.

Gutierrez was taken to the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, where he was to be booked for weapons, narcotics, child endangerment, possession of stolen property, auto theft, obstruction, delaying, & resisting arrest related charges.  The child involved in the brief standoff was released back into the custody of another suitable relative.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  We credit all involved law enforcement partners and are grateful for the safe outcome with yesterday’s operation.  The Sheriff’s Office is determined to making their county a safer place for all to enjoy during the upcoming holiday season.
