Weather Conditions May Have Contributed to a Fatal Traffic Collision in Hesperia

LOCATION: Mariposa Road and south of Eucalyptus Street, Hesperia
INVOLVED PARTY (1): 48-year-old female
INVOLVED VEHICLE (1): 2009 Dodge Nitro
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at about 5:49 p.m., deputies from the Hesperia Station and emergency personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a traffic collision involving a 2009 Dodge Nitro in the area of Mariposa Road, near Eucalyptus Street, in the city of Hesperia.
Through preliminary investigation, it appears the Dodge traveled north on Mariposa Road. The driver of the Dodge failed to stay on the roadway as the road curved to the east. The Dodge left the north side of the roadway and rolled over multiple times. The 48-year-old female driver of the Dodge succumbed to her injuries while on scene. Two juvenile passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the collsion and were transported to an area hospital for complaints of pain.
Investigators from the Hesperia Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded and assumed the investigation. Weather conditions are being considered as a contributing factor in this crash.
