Suspect Arrested After Pursuit Ends in a Traffic Collision; Suspect Hospitalized

DATE/TIME: December 14, 2021/ 10:00 a.m.

INCIDENT: Evading a Peace Officer with Disregard for Safety, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance while Armed, Prohibited to Own Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Handgun Not Owner

LOCATION: Hook Boulevard & Amargosa Road, Victorville

SUSPECT(S): David Martin, 55-year-old resident of Hesperia


SUMMARY: 

On December 14, 2021, at approximately 1:58 p.m. deputies observed a vehicle in violation of a California Vehicle Code, being driven on Hook Boulevard and Amargosa Road in Victorville. A traffic stop was attempted, and the suspect, later identified as David Martin, failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. Martin drove at a high rate of speed and led deputies on an approximate 6.5-mile pursuit. The pursuit came to an end when Martin's vehicle collided with multiple vehicles traveling on the roadway. Medical aid was requested immediately after the collision occurred for all persons involved. The occupants in the other vehicles were not injured during the collision. Martin suffered major injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to a hospital where he remains.   

A loaded firearm was located in the vehicle along with a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine. 

The suspect will be booked into the county jail, when he is cleared medically, for CVC 2800.2-Evading a Peace Officer with Disregard for Safety, PC29800(A)(1)-Felon in Possession of a Firearm, HS11370.1(A)-Possession of a Controlled Substance while Armed, PC 30305(A)(1)-Prohibited to Own Ammunition, PC25850(C)(6)- Carrying a Loaded Handgun Not Owner.
