* WHAT...Heavy snow across elevations ranging from 2500 to 3500 will continue through early evening. An additional 4 to 8 inches are possible. Locally, lower elevation communities could see 2 to 4 inches. Precipitation rates will taper off overnight but scattered rain or snow showers are likely through morning.

* WHERE...Portions of northwest California interior above 2500 feet in elevation.

* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, until 7 PM PST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult...especially over higher passes along Highways 3, 36 and 299. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
