On Tuesday December 14, 2021 the Harper Woods High School received information on a social media post (Instagram) threatening to shoot up the school. The school administration took immediate action to include notifying the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety. The Harper Woods High School student was identified and arrested. The 14 year old juvenile student was placed in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility and formally charged with:
Count 1: Making an Intentionally Threat to Commit an Act of Violence Against a School, School Employees or Students
Count 2: Malicious Use of a Telecommunications Device
The Harper Woods Department of Public Safety works closely with the school districts within the City and maintains a zero tolerance policy for actions of this nature.
