Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the week of December 6-12, 2021
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Notable Cases
On Monday, 12-06-21 at approximately 10:15 p.m., Officer Mendiara and Officer Aguilar were dispatched to a residence on the 1600 block of Edgeworth Avenue on a welfare check. An anonymous reporting party reported that a family member was the victim of a burglary that occurred hours earlier. The 60-year old victim told the officers that earlier in the evening, he was home with this family and had invited his friend over for dinner. The victim said he went to his garage around 6:32 p.m. to wait for his friend. The victim opened his garage door and observed his friend parking his minivan on the north side of his driveway. As the victim’s friend, a 56-year old Millbrae resident, entered the garage, he noticed three unknown race males approximately 20-25 years old with black semi-automatic handguns running behind his friend into the garage. The victim said one suspect stayed in the garage and held him and his friend at gunpoint while the other two suspects ran inside the home. The suspect searched the victim’s pockets and stole his Hublot watch and $1,800 in cash, along with his identification. The victim said after several minutes, the suspect grabbed him by the back collar of his shirt and forced him to walk inside the residence. All three suspects began yelling, “Money, money, money”. The victim said he stood motionless, and one of the suspects received a phone call. After the call was over, the suspects walked to the garage, opened the door and left the residence on foot in an unknown direction of travel. The victim did not initially call the police as he was scared the suspects would come back and hurt his family. This investigation is continuing.
On Thursday, 12-09-21 at 5:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to a bus stop near Southgate Avenue and Sullivan Avenue on a report of a just occurred armed robbery. The 70-year old victim said she was waiting for a bus when a male with a machete came up to her and stole her cell phone. The victim provided a description of the subject, and officers found the subject nearby underneath the Highway 280 overpass between Callan Boulevard and Junipero Serra Boulevard. The subject, a 29-year old transient, was arrested for robbery and elder abuse.
On Friday, 12-10-21 at approximately 5:18 a.m., Officer Lajoie was dispatched to the area of Longview Drive and Skyline Drive on a report of a female who had flagged down the reporting party and attempted to enter the reporting party’s vehicle. The reporting party said the female was acting erratically and wanted us to check on her welfare. The female was standing on the unit block of Longview Drive and told the officer she needed to get to a gas station, but the ground was collapsing under her feet. The female was not wearing any shoes or socks, and the temperature was approximately 40-44 degrees. The female displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant. The female, a 25-year old Pacifica resident, was subsequently arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance after she failed tests to determine her level of impairment.
On Sunday, 12-12-21 at approximately 2:52 a.m., following a traffic stop by Officer Lizana near Hillside Boulevard and East Vista Avenue, a 36-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
On Sunday, 12-12-21 at approximately 3:01 p.m., a 19-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol following a collision near the intersection of Callan Boulevard and Clarinada Avenue.
Robberies
There were five robberies during the past week.
On Monday, 12-06-21 at approximately 6:32 p.m., an armed robbery occurred at a residence on the 1600 block of Edgeworth Avenue. See "Notable Reports" for more information.
On Monday, 12-06-21 at 7:02 p.m., an unknown female grabbed a bat from the bat rack at Dick’s Sporting Goods and selected items of merchandise. As the female exited the store, she verbally threatened a security guard and said she would swing a bat at him if he tried to stop her.
On Tuesday, 12-07-21 at approximately 2:27 p.m., an unknown male stole a banana and jar of pickled vegetables from the Morazan Market on Mission Street. The 42-year old store employee confronted the suspect, and the suspect displayed the butt of a gun on the right side of his waistband and said, “Do you want me to shoot you?” and fled westbound on Mission Street towards Goethe Street. The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male, 5’7”, black hair and a thin build.
On Thursday, 12-09-21 at 5:41 a.m., a 29-year old transient subject was arrested for robbery and elder abuse that occurred at a bus stop at Southgate Avenue and Sullivan Avenue. See "Notable Reports" for more information.
On Thursday, 12-09-21 at approximately 6:26 p.m., a 28-year old transient subject was arrested for robbery after he stole 15 pairs of men’s Levi’s jeans from Macy’s and punched a 28-year old Loss Prevention Agent after the agent confronted him for stealing. The suspect was additionally arrested for being in possession of a stolen truck after it was confirmed he was seen driving the vehicle and parking it in the Macy’s parking lot.
Residential Burglaries
There was one residential burglary during the past week
On Thursday, 12-09-21 between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., and unknown suspect forced entry via a pry bar to the front door of a residence on the 300 block of Barbara Lane. The suspect stole an unknown amount of jewelry, as well as miscellaneous personal identification information.
Commercial Burglaries
There were two commercial burglaries during the past week.
Between Monday, 12-06-21 at 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday, 12-07-21 at 8;30 a.m., an unknown suspect stole a generator from a Covid testing kiosk in the rear parking lot of 699 Serramonte Boulevard.
Between Wednesday, 12-08-21 at 4:00 p.m. and Thursday, 12-09-21 at 7:30 a.m., an unknown suspect pried the door to a Covid testing kiosk in the rear parking lot of 699 Serramonte Boulevard.
Vehicle Burglaries
There were three vehicle burglaries reported during the past week.
- 200 block of Campana Avenue—jewelry was taken from a 2014 Audi Q5. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on 12-08-21 and 8:00 a.m. on 12-09-21.
- Parking garage at 6036 Mission Street—a Macy’s parcel was taken from a 2016 Subaru Impreza. The rear window was smashed. Occurred between 11:30 a.m. on 12-09-21 and 8:00 a.m. on 12-10-21. **On-line report.
- 800 block of Bellevue Avenue—paperwork and a portable printer was taken from a 2009 Honda CRV. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred on 12-10-21 between 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. **On-line report.
Stolen Vehicles
There were six vehicles stolen during the past week. Two were recovered.
- 300 block of Santa Barbara Avenue—a 1998 Honda Civic. Occurred between 9:00 p.m. on 12-06-21 and 5:30 a.m. on 12-07-21. **Recovered by San Francisco P.D. on 12-07-21.
- 800 block of Bellevue Avenue—a 2013 Audi A5. Occurred on 12-09-21 at 5:48 a.m.
- King Drive/Reston Court—a 1999 Honda Civic. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on 12-09-21 and 9:00 a.m. on 12-10-21. **Recovered by Broadmoor P.D. on 12-10-21.
- 100 block of Frankfort Street—a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder. Occurred on 12-10-21 between 12:05 a.m. and 8:20 a.m.
- Unit block of Kent Court—a 2013 Honda Civic. Occurred between 9:30 p.m. on 12-09-21 and 9:00 a.m. on 12-11-21.
- Pueblo Street/Geneva Avenue—a 1995 Toyota Tacoma. Occurred between 9:00 a.m. on 12-12-21 and 9:00 a.m. on 12-13-21.
Miscellaneous
- There were 129 cases taken.
- There were 7 domestic disturbance cases reported.
- There were 4 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
- There were 13 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
- There were no arrests for public intoxication.
- There was 1 hit and run collision reported.
- There were 2 narcotics-related cases taken.

Daly City Services During the 2021 Holiday Season
