Rohnert Park, CA - At 10:06 AM, Wednesday, December 15, 2021, a patrol officer from the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety found an RV parked in the parking lot of 6145 Commerce Blvd that caught on fire. The officer reported seeing smoke and flames inside the RV. She notified dispatch and checked for any occupants of the RV. The only occupants were two dogs inside of the RV and one was able to escape. The fire quickly grew in size and the officer was forced to back away due to exploding propane canisters. The second dog died in the fire.
The first Rohnert Park DPS fire unit arrived within two minutes and began suppression efforts. The fire was contained to the RV. The occupants of the RV were located nearby and offered resources through Catholic Charities due to losing their home.
The cause of the fire is unknown however the occupants said they may have left a candle burning inside when they left. The property owner has been notified and is working on removing the burned RV.
Our condolences go out to the occupants during this difficult time.
