Norton Shores Police are currently investigating a homicide that occurred at the MI Bar at 2389 W. Sherman.

Homicide
On December 16, 2021 at 1:23 A.M., officers from the Norton Shores Police Department were dispatched to MI Bar at 2389 W Sherman in Norton Shores on a disturbance with shots fired. Officers arrived on the scene and found a male subject on the ground who had been shot multiple times. Officers and medical responders attempted CPR but were un successful. The victim a 27 yr old male from Muskegon was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to witnesses, the suspect and the victim knew each other. A fist fight started near the bar area and after a few punches were thrown the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim several times.
The suspect then walked out the front door of the bar northbound. He described as a white male in his forties, 6”00, and approx. 170 lbs.
The victim is a 27 yr old male from Muskegon, Mi. The victim’s name will not be released until the family has been notified.
Information regarding the reason for the shooting will not be released until the investigation is complete. Several witnesses were inside the bar at the time of the shooting and left prior to the officer’s arrival. The police department is encouraging all witnesses to call the police department to be identified. More information will be released later today.
The Norton Shores Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, the Muskegon Hts Police Department, Muskegon Police Department and Roosevelt Park Police.
