Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, reports that on 12/19/2021 at approximately 2157 hours, his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash near the intersection of Bair Lake St, and Wood Lake Rd, in Newberg Twp, Cass County Michigan.

Investigation shows that 55-year-old, Mishawaka resident, Ryan McCourt, was traveling east bound on Bair Lake St, when his vehicle exited the roadway and struck a tree. McCourt was transported to Elkhart General Hospital, and is in stable condition.  Seat belts were worn, and at this time, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash.  This crash remains under investigation.
