Christmas holiday update; COVID-19 testing available; High school meeting tonight

Christmas closures announced
 
Due to Christmas, municipal offices will be closed on Thursday, Dec.23, and Friday, Dec. 24.

Street cleaning will be suspended on Thursday, Dec. 23, and Friday, Dec. 24. All waste collection, including recycling, will occur as regularly scheduled.

The City’s vaccine and testing clinics are closed on Dec. 25. They will resume on Sunday, Dec.26.  For a full clinic schedule go to www.hobokennj.gov/covid-19-resources.
 
Hop shuttle service will be suspended on Thursday, Dec. 23, through Saturday, Dec. 25. It will resume its schedule on Monday, Dec. 27.
 
Parking meters will be suspended on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. They will, however, be in effect thereafter.
 
Following the holiday, Christmas Trees are to be placed at the curb after 7:30 pm (9 pm for Washington Street) on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Note that Christmas Trees are picked up the next morning by a different crew then the crews that pics up regular garbage and recycling. 
 
Trees must be completely bare for disposal. Remove all lights, ornaments, tinsel, etc. Don't place Christmas Trees in plastic bags.

Santa’s citywide ride postponed
 
Due to yesterday’s fire at 38 Jackson Street, the Hoboken Fire Department has postponed Santa's ride. His trip throughout Hoboken will now be tomorrow, Dec. 22, at 4 p.m.

City expands COVID-19 testing
 
Recently, the City has seen an increase in positive COVID-19 cases.

Some of the cases reported over the past few days were cases that were from several weeks ago, based on a delay in reporting from one of the laboratories utilized by the City’s testing providers but cases are still increasing throughout the region.
 
Appointments are available at City COVID-19 testing clinics. The City has expanded hours at Wednesday’s clinic at 124 Grand St. and added testing on Sunday, Dec. 26 through Bespoke Health.
 
To book a required appointment at any of the City’s testing clinics, go to www.hobokennj.gov/testing.
 
Those with appointments must provide proof of Hoboken residency or proof that they are employed at a Hoboken business or are Hoboken students.

Public meeting on the proposed new high school tonight
 
Hoboken Public School District leadership will host a meeting tonight, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. at 800 Clinton St. to discuss the Hoboken Public School District’s proposed new high school. 
 
Additional public meetings will be held at the Hoboken High School Auditorium at 800 Clinton St. at 7 p.m. on, Thursday, Jan. 6, and Monday, Jan 17.
 
A virtual meeting will also be held on Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. and login information will be announced by the district at a later date.
