El Cerrito Police Blotter December 6th to December 13th, 2021

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
December 6th

Auto Burglary – Kearney St. / Knott Ave.

At 7:46 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect broke the rear passenger window to the victim’s vehicle and removed property earlier in the day.

December 7th

Court Order Violation – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave.

At 9:23 pm, an officer reported a former dating partner had sent several emails and text messages to the victim in violation of a current court order prohibiting electronic contact.

December 8th

Battery, Battery on Police – Jack in the Box, 5920 Cutting Blvd.

At 4:48 am, an officer investigated the attempted battery of staff and arrested a 62-year-old woman for the crime. While taking the woman into custody, the woman kicked an officer and stomped on the officer’s foot. The woman was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

December 9th

Residential Burglary – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave.

At 6:08 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked apartment and removed property earlier that same day.

Grand Theft – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave.

At 8:08 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect removed the catalytic converter from the underside of the victim’s vehicle the previous day.
 
Shoplifting – Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave.

At 8:58 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect removed approximately $100 worth of merchandise and fled the business.
 
Theft – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.

At 9:11 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect stole an employee’s personal car keys from an unattended register yesterday.
 
DUI, Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Moeser Ln.

At 12:09 am, an officer stopped a vehicle and contacted the 39-year-old female driver who was determined to be DUI. The woman also had 2 warrants for her arrest. The woman was arrested and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

December 10th

Brandishing – Trader Joe’s, 225 El Cerrito Plaza

At 6:27 am, an officer reported a known suspect brandished a knife while confronting employees at the business.

Burglary – 10900 block of San Pablo Ave.

At 11:20 am, an officer reported two unknown suspects forced their way into a locked bicycle storage area and stole bicycles and tools.

Petty Theft – 1400 block of Liberty St.

At 7:39pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect stole the rear license plate from the victim’s vehicle.

DUI –1500 block of Lexington Ave.

At 10:10pm, an officer reported that a 49-year old El Cerrito woman collided into a parked car and tree. The woman was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was issued a citation for DUI and transported to the hospital via ambulance.

December 11th

Identity Theft – 300 block of Coronado St.

At 1042 hours, an officer reported an unknown suspect used the victim’s Personal Identifying Information to obtain utilities.

Shoplift/Disobey an Officer – Trader Joe’s, 225 El Cerrito Plaza

At 11:05 am, an officer was patrolling in the area when she was flagged down by employees of a suspicious male inside the storage room area. The 44-year-old male from San Francisco was located in the parking lot inside his vehicle. The employees advised they did not want him to return to their business. As the officer was speaking to the male, a manager advised the male had stolen from the business. The male then turned on the engine of his vehicle and drove away. Officers caught up with the male a short distance within the parking lot after the male’s vehicle had mechanical issues. Initially the male disobeyed officers’ orders to stop the vehicle and exit it. After several verbal commands, the male complied and was safely taken into custody. The male was placed under Citizen’s Arrest for the theft and disobeying an officer. After booking the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
 
Auto Burglary – 510 El Cerrito Plaza

At 1324 hours, an officer reported that an unknown suspect broke a window to the victim’s vehicle and rummaged through the interior; however, no loss was reported. The theft occurred in between 12/10 @ 9:00 pm and SAT 12/11 @12:00 pm.

Vandalism – O’Reilly’s 9989 San Pablo Ave.

At 9:12pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect shattered the back window of the victim’s vehicle.

DUI – Jack in the Box, 5920 Cutting Blvd.

At 2:15am, an officer reported the arrest of a 42-year old Richmond man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man fell asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle while in the drive-thru. Officers contacted him and determined that he was intoxicated. The man was placed under arrest, booked at ECPD, then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

December 12th

Petty Theft – Denny’s, 11344 San Pablo Ave.

At 6:04 am, an officer reported an unknown suspect took the victim’s Nintendo Switch while he was asleep in the backroom of the business. The theft occurred between 3:30 am and 5:24 am.

Auto Burglary – 6600 Block of Lincoln Ave.

At 8:18 hours, an officer reported an unknown suspect smashed the window to the victim’s rental vehicle and removed a cell phone. The time of occurrence was between 12/11@ 10:00 pm to 12/12@ 8:00 am.

Shoplifting – Ross, 11545 San Pablo Ave.

At 12:38 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect entered the business, loaded a shopping cart with merchandise, and left without paying.

Auto Burglary – 5700 block of El Dorado Ave.

At 6:28pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect shattered the front passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and stole miscellaneous items from the glove box.

Shoplift – Marshall’s 10794 San Pablo Ave.

At 9:43 pm, an officer reported an unknown suspect stole $600 worth of purses the day prior.

December 13th

Stolen Vehicle-3200 Block of Belmont Ave.

An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 2001 silver Honda CRV sometime during the night.
 
Vehicle Tampering-6900 Block of Fairmount Ave.

An officer reported an unknown suspect smashed the driver’s front window of the victim’s vehicle and rummaged through the vehicle. No property loss was reported. The incident occurred in between 12/12@ 8:00 am and 12/13@11:00 am.
