On December 22nd, 2021, at 5:22 PM, Petaluma Police Officer on viewed a minor traffic collision and had both drivers pull to the side of the roadway. One of the drivers, later identified as Federico Morales, displayed objective signs of intoxication. While conducting the Field Sobriety Tests Morales became confrontational and threatened officers. Officers attempted to take Morales into custody, and he became non-compliant and struck one of the arresting officers. Morales was ultimately taken into custody. A records check revealed Morales was also on probation.
Morales was arrested for DUI, resisting arrest, battery on a peace officer, threatening a peace officer, and violation of probation. Morales was later transported and booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
None of the officers were injured during the incident.
