Flood Advisory until 12:00PM

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central California, including the following counties, Monterey and San Benito.

* WHEN...Until noon PST.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. River or stream flows are elevated. Shallow mudslides and rockfalls, especially in areas of hilly/rugged terrain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 854 AM PST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Arroyo Seco, Lucia, Gorda, Tassajara Hot Springs, Greenfield, King City, San Lucas, San Ardo, Colman Canyon, Bradley, Sycamore Flat, Esalen Institute and Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
