Cranford Police Investigate Multiple Car Thefts Over Holiday

Over the past five days, five motor vehicles have been stolen within the Township of Cranford.  In all of the incidents, the cars were either left running unattended or with a key fob inside.  The incidents occurred on Madison Avenue, Brookdale Road, Manor Avenue, South Avenue East and Lasalle Avenue.

Additionally, on December 26, 2021 around 7AM, a resident from Orchard Street and another from Springfield Avenue both reported they observed individuals attempting to break into their vehicles.  Shortly thereafter, the Cranford Police Department Patrol Division located and pursued a black Mercedes Benz S-Class related to the burglaries.  The pursuit was terminated when the suspects fled onto the Garden State Parkway.

Active investigations for all five cases remain ongoing and the Cranford Police Department would like to remind members of the public to lock their vehicles and never leave an unattended vehicle running.  If suspicious activity is observed, it should be immediately reported to the police.
