El Cerrito Police Department Blotter December 20th to December 27th, 2021

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
December 20th

Shoplifting – Ross, 11545 San Pablo Ave.
At 6:00 pm, an officer reports two unknown suspects entered the business and selected approximately $700 worth of women’s clothing before fleeing the store.
 
Possession of Controlled Substance, Probation Violation – San Pablo Ave / Potrero Ave.
At 1:16 am, an officer reports the arrest of a 33-year-old man who was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. The man was also on County probation. The man was issued a citation and released in the field.

December 21st

Vehicle Theft – Lexington Ave / Gladys Ave.
At 12:15 am, an officer reports the victim witnessed an unknown suspect drive off in the victim’s white truck. The victim gave chase but lost the vehicle several blocks away.
 
December 22nd

Shoplifting – Ross, 2000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 6:09 pm, an officer reports two unknown suspects entered the business and removed $600 worth of clothing.

At 9:46 pm, an officer reports the Citizen’s Arrest of a 49-year-old and a 26-year-old woman who were detained after leaving the business via the emergency exit door. Both women were in possession of stolen merchandise and were issued a citation and released at the scene.
 
December 23rd

Petty Theft, Conspiracy, Possession of a Firearm – Kearney St / Manila Ave.
At 8:50 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 22-year-old man after the man and another male arranged to meet with the victim to sell a video game console. The sale was not legitimate and the suspects ran off with the victim’s money. One of the suspects was arrested and while his vehicle was being towed, a firearm was located under the front seat. The man was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

December 24th
 
December 25th

Warrant Arrest – Carlson Blvd / Sacramento Avenue:
At 3:40 am an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle and discovered the driver had a non-citable warrant for their arrest held by Napa County for theft charges.  They were arrested, booked at ECPD, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 
Shoplifting – 10012 San Pablo Avenue (Pic-N-Pac Liquors):
At 8:09 pm an officer was sent to the report that five people had just come into the store and two of them stole $300 worth of merchandise. 
 
December 26th

Burglary – 7100 Schmidt Lane:
At 4:10 am officers were dispatched to an alarm on the site with someone seen on video inside the yard.  It was determined the suspect left prior to police arrival however some items had been stolen. 
 
December 27th

Attempted Petty Theft – 600 block of Kearney Street:
At 2:14 am an officer was sent to a call that someone had just opened several boxes on a utility pick up bed however did not steal anything since they were empty. 

Grand Theft – 800 block of Galvin Drive:
At 2:41 am an officer was sent to the report that someone had just stolen the catalytic converter off of the victim’s vehicle and fled the area. 
 
Burglary – 10636 San Pablo Avenue (24-Hour Fitness):
At 6:57 pm an officer was sent to the report that an unknown suspect had broken into three lockers in the locker room and stole property from inside. 

Armed Robbery – 11565 San Pablo Avenue (Walgreen’s):
At 7:51 pm an officer was sent to the report that the victim was robbed by a person with a knife approximately ten minutes earlier in the parking lot of the business.  The victim was walking to their car when the suspect produced a knife and demanded property from the victim.  The suspect obtained some property and was last seen by the victim running west on Cutting Blvd. 

Shoplifting – 11565 San Pablo Avenue (Walgreen’s):
At 6:59 pm employees at Walgreen’s reported that a suspect came into the store and loaded merchandise into his bag and walked out without paying for it.
